Summer 2018 Internships Available with NCBPA

NCBPA offers internships to qualified students and professionals new to our industry year-round to support our membership services and industry work.  Generally, two internships are available for spring and fall semesters, and up to four in the summer.  For summer 2018, NCBPA has three paid internships available:

  • Commercial & Industrial Buildings: Work with our staff, members and partners to develop research and resources that support high performance construction in commercial and industrial buildings.  Last summer, NCBPA intern Raina Harrell performed a wealth of research that led to the formation of, our coming-soon educational website for building and property owners, operators and stakeholders.  For summer 2018, this intern will carry that work forward by diving even deeper into performance contracting, green building and industrial building efficiency.
  • Annual Market Inventory Report:  Study North Carolina’s residential and commercial energy efficient, green and high performance construction markets by performing the fourth iteration of this annual report.  In 2017, NCBPA intern Sajad Hosseini led data collection and analysis efforts that resulted in national recognition for our report, and an award for our Executive Director!  For summer 2018, the report’s data collection, analysis and recommendations will be updated to include a greater focus on existing homes and commercial buildings, including “Green” MLS opportunities for commercial buildings.
  • Workforce Development:  Lead the research and development of resources direly needed by our industry’s companies and professionals to encourage lasting career opportunities in our trades.  The lack of available skilled labor on residential and commercial job sites is a major concern for our industry.  Be a part of the solution by working with NCBPA staff, partners and members to define industry career paths, develop educational resources and build industry partnerships needed to create hiring bridges between colleges and universities across the state with member companies.

For each intern position:

  • A monthly stipend is provided to help pay for food, parking and travel.
  • Most work will be located at NCBPA’s office in downtown Raleigh.  Some work-from-home opportunities are available.
  • Limited travel is provided.
  • Interns must provide their own computer and phone.
  • NCBPA will complete any required paperwork needed for students to earn credit.

Send your resume, cover letter and which position(s) you’re interested in to to apply.
